Who is involved in IDEAS? IDEAS Institute is unique in that it has a number of In-house Specialists.

Sylvester Cronin - Director of Health & Safety

Sylvester co-ordinates the Safety and Health activities of the Institute. With a staff of experienced Health & Safety specialists, Sylvester is involved in the delivery of a wide range of specialised education and training programmes. Sylvester also currently holds the position of Vice-President in the Health & Safety Authority.

 

Eddie Higgins - Director BMW Region

Eddie has overall responsibility for the Institute's activities in the Border, Midland and Western (BMW) Region. A recognised expert in Project and Strategic Management, Eddie combines these skills with those of writer and author for the Open Learning Centre of the National University of Ireland, Galway. With over 25 years of practice in IR and related activities, Eddie is well versed in conflict and dispute resolution; problem assessment and evaluation, and the facilitation of work-based team and partnership building processes.

 

 

Barbara Kelly - Director of Technology

Barbara is one of the foremost labour researchers in Ireland and developed a unique national industrial database for SIPTU. As Ireland's representative on the Collective Bargaining Committee of the European Metal Workers' Federation, Barbara assisted with the creation of a similar European database. She has also designed two training manuals for computer end-users, one for database clients and one for 'Star Writer'. Apart from her computer and research interests, Barbara is also concerned with equality issues and is the author of "Social Partnership - What have Women Achieved?" (1999).

 

Ron Kelly - Company Secretary

Ron is an experienced manager of a number of key European and national projects under the ADAPT and

Leonardo programmes including the very successful - "Mind Your Own Business," four part television series. He is currently co-ordinating a major project under the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment's "Skillnets" programme concerned with the development of enterprise partnership processes in small to medium companies, and is also responsible for the management and development of the Institute's centre.

 

Martin Naughton - Vice Chairperson

Martin is an acknowledged expert on change management. He has worked with managers and union representatives on a broad range of issues involved in the introduction of new forms of work organisation and work systems. Martin provides direct hands-on developmental support to the design of high performance work systems and to the development of enterprise participation and partnership systems.
